The Vibrant Vine

The Lewis Family has always had a special connection to the arts, which has been expressed through The Vibrant Vine Winery. The unique and colourful 3D artwork by artist Phil Lewis is featured throughout the winery – giving The Vibrant Vine its distinctive and well recognized brand. Members of the Lewis family are themselves musically talented and have been involved in amateur community theatre in places such as London, Paris and San Francisco. Because of this connection with the arts, the Lewis Family felt inspired to donate to Opera Kelowna and is excited to share its passion for the Opera with the Vibrant Vine community.

Marion Lewis has always loved the opera, growing up in a family of 4 sisters who all took part in the local operatic and dramatic society, and regularly performed a variety of broadway musicals and pantomimes. She recalls her first experience of live opera as an adult when she attended ‘The Barber of Seville’ in San Francisco as being a very powerful experience. Since then, she has been fortunate to have visited many major Opera houses in the world – from London to Paris, Vienna, Buenos Aires & Sydney.

Over the years, The Vibrant Vine has hosted an eclectic mix of concerts and workshops, including performances of ‘The Phantom of the Villa’ as well as Shakespeare productions. Marion says “if I can’t go to the show, then it has to come to me!” and she has particularly enjoyed hosting musical theatre legend and fellow Welshman, Peter Carrie, at the ‘Phantom of the Villa’ event, as well as local artists Melina Schein and Carol Colpitts. Unfortunately, two shows with Melina Schein had to be cancelled last year because of the pandemic, but the winery is thrilled to announce the ‘Over the Rainbow’ performance has been confirmed for this summer.

The Vibrant Vine is also excited to be collaborating on an event with Opera Kelowna this summer. The winery hopes that this collaboration will showcase Opera Kelowna to new audiences and help share the love of Opera with younger generations. Marion says “we are looking forward to being active supporters of so much more in the very near future!” Stay tuned for more details.

The Vibrant Vine Winery will host live music on the lawn every Saturday & Sunday this spring and summer from 1pm – 4pm. When it is safe to do so, the winery also looks forward to hosting a range of musical genres for our evening shows. This will include the fun & entertaining Andrew Allen, the high-energy Legendary Lake Monsters, as well as many other extremely talented local musicians. Follow us on Facebook for updates about our shows. Tickets for the concerts are available on our website: www.thevibrantvine.com/Concerts
