The COVID-19 pandemic has reminded us how important it is to feel connected to loved ones, and to our communities. In the past 6 months, the digital outpouring of artistic creation across the globe has also demonstrated how music, art, storytelling, and especially song, can bridge any divide, and connect us to the people and ideas that make us who we are.
Our Pandemic Pivot
In our response to COVID-19, this summer Opera Kelowna postponed its season and focused instead on connecting with our community. We sang to over 1000 seniors in the Okanagan Valley through our free Sidewalk Serenades program, and we collaborated with organizations in Lake Country, Vernon and Kelowna to bring safe concerts to local communities in July and August.
Looking to the Future
Now it is time for Opera Kelowna to consider the future. In spite of current uncertainty about the ability to gather safely, Opera Kelowna is planning for a bright future. With our new leadership team in place, and a renewed commitment to creating great art within and for this community, we are fully invested in keeping opera alive and well in the Okanagan Valley. Will you invest alongside us?
Invest in Opera Kelowna
Opera Kelowna is pleased to present a 6-month “Mini-Matching Campaign” with a goal of raising $30 000. Each month from November – April, your donation will be doubled, dollar for dollar, up to $2500 by a community leader that has committed to the company’s future. You can learn about each month’s lead donor by clicking on the links from this page.
If we reach our total goal, Opera Kelowna will be able to cover the basic costs of remaining in business throughout 2020, during which we were unable to undertake the productions and activities that create our primary revenue. With your support, we will be ready to bring our programming back in 2021 as soon as it is safe to do so.
Invest in the future of opera in the Okanagan. Consider a monthly donation of just $25 for six months. Get in touch if you’d like to speak to a member of our team. The community needs each other, and right now, Opera Kelowna needs you.
