Mini-Matching Campaign

Donor Profile: December

A note from Rose

Rosemary Thomson, Artistic Director

Our generous lead donor for December wishes to remain anonymous.  I was able to speak with them about their reason for offering their support to Opera Kelowna and was inspired by what I learned. In lieu of a profile, I’ll share my reflection on our exchange.

During this challenging time, we are constantly reminded of our need for connection because so much of what connects us has been put on hold.  When you consider what strengthens connection and communities, live, shared experiences are right at the top of the list.

It is the sharing that is so important: sharing stories, sharing feelings, sharing what we have in common and learning about our differences. When those stories are shared through the arts, the human connections become more powerful and more memorable, and opera’s moments for those connections are endless. Any opera lover can describe one of their “aha” moments, when they were moved to tears for by the beauty and possibility of the human voice. Opera Kelowna is investing in the possibility for our whole community to have access to this kind of experience.

December’s lead donor shares this belief:  When they became a lead donor for our Mini-matching Campaign, they offered us a very clear message: Opera Kelowna fulfils an important part of a healthy community for all and we want to do whatever we can to ensure the company remains resilient through this current COVID crisis.

We are grateful to this donor for their generosity and their belief in our ability to strengthen our community through the power of opera.  In this traditional time of giving, we ask that you join our donor by investing in our company.  Please consider a one time or monthly gift to help Opera Kelowna return in 2021 with a renewed vision and a rich array of opera experiences to share.

We need your support to ensure Opera Kelowna can return in 2021 and share stories through song with our whole community for years to come.
