2016 | The Magic Flute

Mainstage Production
Kelowna Community Theatre
Aug 18 | 7:30PM

This main stage performance was the biggest production of the season and boasted a professional lead cast and orchestra as well as a 30 voice chorus of young aspiring opera students and members of the community. The Canadian School of Ballet animated the stage lending an exquisite touch to an enchanting fairy-tale, full of excitement and drama.

Scottish conductor Bernard McDonald, Vocal Coach Kinza Tyrell, and Director Jessica Derventzis were joined by a star-studded cast of professional operatic leads in a thrilling performance.

“The emergence of world class operatic performances in our own back yard is an exciting movement for the cultural community here in the Okanagan. At the same time we are making the art form accessible to a whole new generation, which is absolutely fantastic!” says Alexandra Babbel, artistic director for Opera Kelowna.
