Transformations: Colin Ainsworth live in concert

Renowned Canadian tenor, Colin Ainsworth has “thrilled audiences with remarkable power and expressivity” all over the world. Opera Kelowna is excited to welcome back to the Okanagan Mr. Ainsworth, with collaborative pianist Laura Lowen, for “Transformations” – a solo vocal recital of poignant and lighthearted music. Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Hymns for Tenor and Jeffrey Ryan’s Length of a Day take listeners on a soul searching journey while Louis Andriessen’s “Beatles Songs” and Peter Tiefenbach’s humorous “Songs from my Cupboard” will lift our spirits with quirky humour.

Opera Kelowna is committed to bringing the best that opera has to offer to our Okanagan Valley. Each year, we present 2 complementary productions, one in the summer months, and one in winter.

Mainstage Production (August)

As the Okanagan is basking in the brightest of summer beauty, so too is Opera Kelowna nurturing a new production for our community. We cast a combination of industry-leading artists and the next generation of great Canadian talent to bring these productions to life. Join us each August to enjoy a full, and maybe even familiar, operatic gem.

Past Productions include:

Carmen (2018)

La Boheme (2017)

The Magic Flute (2016)

The Marriage of Figaro (2015)

Studio Production (Winter)

Opera Kelowna is pleased to launch a second production in our annual artistic planning. Our Studio Productions are cutting edge works that feature contemporary and Canadian artists, and engage with a range of specific communities and questions we face today.

Past Productions include:

2021 The Book of my Shames
