While studying conducting in Tucson, Terry Pitt-Brooke was lucky to study singing with noted coloratura soprano Elizabeth Futral. Since returning to his native Vernon in 2017, Dr. Pitt-Brooke has conducted a number of ensembles, including the chorus for Opera Kelowna’s 2018 production of Carmen. He’s delighted to be playing Basilio under Rosemary Thompson.
Born and brought up in Vernon, Terry Pitt-Brooke started to take singing seriously while attending Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific as a member of its inaugural class. He studied composition at University of Toronto and conducting under Jon Washburn in Vancouver and Robert Fountain in Madison, Wisconsin. After decades of conducting and teaching in the Vancouver area, Terry embarked on Doctoral studies in conducting at the University of Arizona. While in Tucson, he was privileged to study singing under noted coloratura soprano Elizabeth Futral. Since returning to his native Vernon in 2017, Dr. Pitt-Brooke has conducted the AURA Chamber Choir, Counterpoint, the All-Bach concerts of the Vernon Proms Festival the NOVO community orchestra, and in 2018 he prepared the chorus for Opera Kelowna’s production of Carmen. He’s delighted to be singing Basilio under Rosemary Thompson in this year’s Marriage of Figaro!
