The Lullabye Circle is a new event Opera Kelowna has developed with Kelowna Community Resources and the Centre Culturel Francophone de l’Okanagan. The goal is to create a welcoming and safe space for people from different cultures to connect through song. All communities have melodies and songs that are passed through generations, and sharing them helps keep those traditions alive.
We hope to increase inter- and cross-cultural awareness in Kelowna, and help build community and connections. Together we can support mental and emotional well-being through music making with no barriers.
The event includes a fun vocal warm up, led by Artistic Director Rosemary Thomson. Participants will then take turns sharing a lullabye from their family tradition, and teach it to the group with support from Rosemary. Following the singing circle, there will be time for visiting and sharing some snacks.
