Carol Isaac began working at the Metropolitan Opera in the 2006/2007 season. From 1995-2000 she worked at the Vancouver Opera and in 1999 she began assisting Maestro Donald Runnicles at the San Francisco Opera where she worked for twelve years. Other North American credits include the companies in Washington, Santa Fe, Toronto, Arizona, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
In 2011 she toured with the Met to Japan, followed by her debut that same summer at the Salzburg Festival. She made her debut in 2013 at the Festival International d’Art Lyrique in Aix en Provence (and in Milan, Italy) for Patrice Chereau’s legendary last opera production Elektra. She has also worked internationally in Santiago (Chile), and the Czech Republic.
A specialist in Czech operatic repertoire she assisted Czech conductors Jiří Bělohlávek and Jiří Kout as well as Sir Charles Mackerras, whom she assisted several times in San Francisco as well as in England for his course on Janáček operatic roles with soprano Elisabeth Soderstrom.
As a recitalist she made her NYC debut in Merkin Hall in 2003, her Wigmore Hall debut in 2005 and played at the prestigious Gilmore International Keyboard Festival in 2004. As an educator she has worked in Italy, China and the Czech Republic (AMU) and enjoys her annual work in Canada at the University of British Columbia as well as the VOA.
