Praised for his “nice timbre” (Ludwig van Toronto), Matthew Bermudez is a lyric tenor hailing from London, Ontario. Graduating with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music at Western University, he has performed in multiple operatic productions, including Die Zauberflöte, La Cenerentola, Falstaff, Così fan tutte, and Alcina. He was also featured as a finalist for both the Canadian Opera Company’s Ensemble Studio competition and Opera de Montréal’s Talent Gala in 2023. Last season, Matthew made his Opera Kelowna debut, playing the Doctor and Notary in Gianni Schicchi, and was a participant in the Valley Opera Summer Intensive.
