About

Canadian soprano Olivia Howe is in her third year of Opera Performance studies at UBC. This season, Olivia performed the role of Josephine in Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore with UBC Opera, appeared as the soprano soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the UBC Symphony Orchestra and Choirs, as the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Coronation Mass with UBC Choral Union, and as the soprano soloist in Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra. She was also an Encouragement Award winner at the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. Olivia has been a proud recipient of the Sonya and Charlotte Wall Award, S. Cyril Maplethorp Memorial Scholarship, the Nancy Hermiston Scholarship, and the Norah Mansell Music Scholarship. This year, she was also awarded the Toni and Hildegard Cavelti Foundation Fund bursary from Vancouver Opera. This summer, Olivia will be covering the role of Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte with the Aspen Opera Theatre and VocalARTS program under the direction of Renée Fleming and Patrick Summers.
