Canadian Korean baritone Clarence Frazer, a “singer actor at the top of his game” (Opera Going Toronto), has been hailed for his “full and powerful” baritone (Schmopera), and “unique musical performative power that demands a wider audience” (Ludwig Van Toronto).

In 2027, Clarence returns to Vancouver Opera (Guglielmo/Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Steward/Dove’s Flight) to star as Figaro in Barber of Seville.

Further credits include his debut with Manitoba Opera (Schaunard/Puccini’s La bohème), an appearance with Flipside Opera for Wolf’s Italienisches Liederbuch with soprano Tracy Dahl, and an appearance with Orchestre classique de Montréal as El Payador in Piazzolla’s María de Buenos Aires.

Clarence opened his 2025/26 season as Bassett in Ammolite Opera’s production of The Rocking Horse Winner (Chatterton/Williams) and debuts as Morales in Carmen with the Macao International Music Festival, in a co- production by Opernhaus Zürich and Opéra Comique, Paris, directed by Andreas Homoki.

In demand for his exceptional musicianship and athletic presence, Clarence has interpreted several contemporary opera roles, including Eadric in the 2025 world premiere of Uyeda’s Silence (Nuova Vocal Arts), Jean in Canadian Stage’s Julie (North American Premiere), and William Cormack in Burry’s Shanawdithit (World Premiere) with Tapestry Opera and Opera on the Avalon. Additional opera credits include the titular roles of both Eugene Onegin and Don Giovanni, Albert (Werther), Papageno (The Magic Flute), Silvio (Pagliacci), Demetrius (Midsummer Night’s Dream), Marcello (La bohème), and Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia).

An alumnus of Canadian Opera Company’s prestigious Ensemble Studio and Calgary Opera’s McPhee Artist Development Program, Clarence has been engaged by the Canadian Opera Company, Opera Kelowna, Pacific Opera Victoria, Calgary Opera, and Opéra de Québec.

Clarence has performed as a soloist in Oratorio repertoire including Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Estacio’s The Houses Stand not Far Apart and Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem with Symphony Nova Scotia, Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Chorus Niagara, the Grand Philharmonic Choir, the Ottawa Choral Society, Windsor Symphony and the Vancouver Bach Choir.
